this last week i’ve been working with tim goeppinger, the brewmaster of sonoma springs brewery. tim hired me on to create a beer label for his latest concoction of magical liquid. the brew, labeled “isis”, is blended altbier with bavarian rye and fermented with wild yeast from organic sour cherries donated by green string farm. the potion was aged for six months in zinfandel oak barrels and is a text book example of handcrafted, thirst quenching, tasteful talent.

in order to graphically define the brew, i sought out to create a label composed of 100% handcrafted artwork. the image you see below is the finalized label in a digital format. the illustrations and the typography are hand drawn, the ink was created from cherry juice, and the overall composition was constructed by my chocolate covered brain. also, each individual label is printed on post-consumer waste / hemp paper and hand adhered with wheat paste! enjoy the work and when you get a chance, go taste the brew at sonoma springs brewery, located at 750 west napa street in sonoma, ca. prost!
